How to check ntn status
How to check ntn status
To check your National Tax Number (NTN) in Pakistan using your Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC), follow these steps:
- Visit the FBR IRIS Portal:
- Access the Taxpayer Profile Inquiry:
- On the IRIS portal, locate the “Online NTN/STRN Inquiry” or “Taxpayer Profile Inquiry” option, typically found in the left sidebar or under the “Search Taxpayers” tab.
- Select Parameter Type:
- From the dropdown menu under “Parameter Type,” select “CNIC” (for individuals).
- If you’re checking for a business or Association of Persons (AOP), you may need to select “NTN” or “Registration No” if you have that information.
- Enter Details:
- Input your 13-digit CNIC number without dashes in the designated field.
- Enter the captcha code displayed on the screen.
- Submit and View Results:
- Click the “Submit” or “Verify” button.
- If registered, the portal will display your taxpayer profile, including your NTN listed as the “Reference No.” If it shows “No Record Found,” you are not registered with the FBR, and you may need to apply for an NTN.
Alternative Method: Check via SMS:
- For individuals, type “ATL (space) [13-digit CNIC number without dashes]” and send it to 9966. For example: ATL 3520212345678.
- You’ll receive a response indicating your NTN and Active Taxpayer Status.
Additional Tips:
- Ensure your CNIC number is entered correctly without dashes to avoid errors.
- If you encounter issues (e.g., server downtime), try during off-peak hours or contact the FBR helpline at 051-111-772-772 for assistance.
- For non-residents without a Pakistani phone number, you may need a family member’s registered number or contact the FBR for alternative verification methods.
If you’re not registered, you can apply for an NTN through the same IRIS portal under “Registration for Unregistered Person” with your CNIC, contact details, and other required documents.
